Netflix and UNESCO have teamed together to promote India’s rich cultural history through the popular animated series Mighty Little Bheem on the streaming site.

Green Gold Animation produced the animated series, which debuted on the streaming platform in 2019. It revolves around the exploits of Bheem, a young child.

Netflix and UNESCO are teaming together to create a series of short movies titled “One Country, Incredible Diversity,” which will concentrate on India’s cultural journey, encompassing monuments, living heritage, performing arts, social practises, rituals, and holidays like Dussehra, Diwali, and Holi.

Bheem will be featured in the short videos, which will be shared on UNESCO New Delhi’s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter accounts.

The first video in the series was released on Friday, just in time for the 75th anniversary of the United States’ independence.

Netflix India’s VP of Content, Monika Shergill, expressed her delight at the opportunity to work with UNESCO. “Through our famous preschool animated series, ‘Mighty Little Bheem,’ we are thrilled to collaborate with UNESCO to highlight India’s rich cultural legacy.

In a statement, she added, “At Netflix, we aim to produce tales that are engaging, meaningful, memorable, and resonate throughout the world for the true portrayal of their different cultures.”

“We are happy to collaborate with Netflix to take you on a tour of India’s rich cultural variety,” said Eric Falt, Director and UNESCO Representative to Bhutan, India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
