Wimbledon 2022: India’s Yuki Bhambri, Ramkumar Ramanathan Knocked Out in 1st Round of Singles Qualifying

India participated in the famous Tennis Championship in the World, Wimbledon 2022. The Championship has been played every year since its foundation in 1877. It is the most esteemed tennis tournament in the world played in England. Ramkumar Ramanathan and Yuki Bhambri are representing India in the international contest.

Yuki Bhambri

Bhambri played the first game in the game for India against Spanish Bernabe Zapata Miralles. Yuki started well with a better front foot and earned points early in the game. He took the lead in the first set by 5-3. Later the game turned where Miralles took the lead ending the round at 5-7. The second set didn’t go well for the Indian, losing the match by 1-6.

Ramkumar Ramanathan

Ramanathan played against Czech Republic’s Vit Kopriva, who got famous for defeating Denis Shapovalov. The Indian took the lead at the beginning by 3 points but failed to remain ahead. Ramkumar didn’t take much charge before the Czech champion overtook and won the first set by 5-7.  Czech didn’t allow Ramanathan to score ahead of him and won by a close 4-6.

Both the Indians failed to hold themselves in the most notable tennis championship. Sania Mirza is the only hope for India to establish their presence in the SW19. Mirza entered the championship in the Women’s Singles along with Czech Republic’s Lucie Hradecka.
