Thailand Open 2022: PV Sindhu Losses in Semi-Finals to Chen Yu Fei

PV Sindhu lost the Thailand Open Semi-Finals today on 21st May, to Chinese shuttler Chen Yu Fei. Sindhu is a two-time Olympic medalist, who represented India at plenty of International Badminton events. She became the first Indian ever to become a Badminton World Champion. Sindhu also earned a Gold medal at the 2019 World Championships. In 2017 she was the World Ranking No. 2, achieving her career-high record in Badminton. Presently she is representing India at Thailand Open 2022, which began on 17th May on a Tuesday till 22nd May on Sunday.

PV Sindhu entered the Semi-Finals after defeating Akane Yamaguchi, in the Quarter-Finals. She played against the current World No.1 and beat her in a three-round game. Sindhu defeated the Japanese opponent by 21-15, 20-22, and 21-13. She only needed the second round to win and no third. The second round was tough but ended with 13-9, 11-9, and 19-14.

Sindu was up to go against Chen Yu Fei from China, to which she lost in the Semi-Finals of the Thailand Open. The Chinese took an easy win to the finals after beating PV by 17-21 and 16-21. The 14th victory of the quarter-finals was the last Sindhu got in this open. Chen had previously defeated Sindhu at the 2019 BWF World Tour Finals.
