“Special Moment for Indian Sports”: Neeraj Chopra Wished By The PM Modi: Neeraj Chopra represented India in the 2022 World Athletics Championships. He became the first Indian man to win a silver medal in the championship ever. With his throw of 88.13m in his fourth attempt, he won the silver medal, securing second place in the championship. 

Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year and brought glory to the nation. He was congratulated by top leaders and the PM for his outstanding win in the men’s javelin throw final.

The current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi congratulated Neeraj Chopra on his win. Through his Twitter account, he tweeted, “A great accomplishment by one of our most distinguished athletes! Congratulations to @Neeraj_chopra1 on winning a historic Silver medal at the #WorldChampionships. This is a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes to Neeraj for his upcoming endeavours.”

Anurag Thakur, Sports Minister, pointed out that Neeraj Chopra has won a medal at every global event. He also shared a video of his medal-winning throw.

He was congratulated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and other leaders of the country too.
