SL vs PAK Asia Cup Highlights: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs, Wins Asia Cup 2022

Sri Lanka and Pakistan played the Asia Cup 2022 finals on Sunday, 11th September. The game was at Dubai International Stadium. Both the teams were the best performing team in the continental tournament. Sri Lanka and Pakistan started the series weak and lost their initial match. But in the Super 4 games, both the countries defeated India and Afghanistan and knocked them out.

In the finals, Sri Lanka started with worse batting and bowling. They gradually took control and turned the table on Pakistan. The men in green got the upper hand by winning the toss. It was a good game by Sri Lanka, defying all odds and taking the trophy back home.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl. Dhananjaya de Silva scored 28 runs and Wanindu Hasaranga made 36 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa smashed 71 runs with six boundaries and three sixes. Sri Lanka gave Pakistan a target of 171 runs.

Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets, whereas Pramod Madushan got four wickets. Chamika Karunaratne bagged two wickets.

Mohammed Rizwan was the highest scorer for Pakistan. He made 55 runs with four boundaries and a six. Iftikhar Ahmed made 32 runs whereas Haris Rauf scored 13 runs. 

Haris Rauf took three-wicket, whereas Naseem Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Shadab Khan took a wicket each.

Pakistan failed to chase the target runs despite getting the upper hand. Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 23 runs and became the Asia Cup 2022 Champions.
