SL vs AUS: Sri Lanka and Australia played their first One Day International match yesterday, 14th June at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The Australia tour of Sri Lanka contains three T20I, five ODIs, and two test matches. Currently, the three T20 International games came to an end, where Australia emerged victorious after winning two out rounds. This tour will help the ongoing financial crises of Sri Lanka as the tickets and broadcasting earnings will go to restoring the economy.

Sri Lanka is also about to host the Asia Cup Cricket, creating more employment and income. The first ODI was won by Australia by just two wickets. Both countries didn’t complete playing the game due to weather inconsistency and had to opt for Duckworth-Lewis Stern. DLS is employed, when the game has to be stopped, due to weather or other problems. It calculated the upcoming score of the team by reviewing the past performance to determine if the team wins or not.

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Danushka Gunathilaka scored fifty-five runs, and Pathum Nissanka made fifty-six runs. Kusal Mendis played till the end, making eighty-six runs, and Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga scored thirty-seven runs each. Dunith Wellalage took two wickets, and Wanindu Hasaranga bagged four wickets. Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka took a wicket each. Sri Lanka gave the target of 300 runs in fifty overs to Australia.

Glenn Maxwell scored eighty runs, and Steve Smith made fifty-three runs. Aaron Finch and Marcus Stoinis made forty-four runs each. Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey scored twenty-four and twenty-one runs. Ashton Agar and Marnus Labuschagne took two wickets each. Jhye Richardson, Marcus Stoinis, and Josh Hazlewood took a wicket each.

The game was incomplete due to unstable weather, and Australia opted for the DLS method. Australia won the game after the result favored them by two wickets. It was a close win as they only had nine balls to score nine runs.
