Singapore Open 2022: PV Sindhu Storms to Semifinals, Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy Exits

Indian Badminton icon PV Sindhu played the quarterfinals match of Women’s Singles at the Singapore Open 2022. HS Prannoy and Saina Nehwal also played in the quarterfinals. The trio had a great second round, where they all prevailed in the next game. PV Sindhu is the only one that took a step further and booked her spot in the semifinals.

Two times Olympic Medalist played the quarterfinals against Han Yue of China. Both the shuttlers played the first set. Sindhu showed a weak performance in the first set, losing by 17-21. She quickly got back on her feet in the second set. The World No.19 played aggressively and scored points prevailing the second set by 21-11.

In the third set, Han Yue showed some resistance and brought the game closer to her victory. PV Sindhu displayed fantastic performance and scored more points, favoring the game towards herself. India won the round by 21-19. The game lasted for more than an hour. PV Sindhu will face Saena Kawakami of Japan

Other Indian veterans Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy failed to win their quarterfinal round. Saina Nehwal lost to Aya Ohori by 13-21, 21-15 and 20-22. HS Prannoy also ended his journey in the Singapore Open Super 500 Tournament after losing to Kodai Naraoka by 21-12, 14-21, and 18-21.
