India will soon play against South Africa as a home match, starting on 9th June. Five T20I are scheduled for the India tour of South Africa. Both the teams have arrived at the capital New Delhi and are practicing at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The first game will be played, in Delhi with, both the team players getting enough time to practice and rest. The Indian squad arrived late as they just back from a two-month-long IPL 2022.

Shreyas Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022, is also announced in the playing 11. He is very close to making 1000 runs in T20 International matches. Iyer will play a crucial role in the place of Suryakumar Yadav, as he suffers from an injury and won’t be playing in the series. He is just 191 runs away from achieving his 1000 runs and is most likely to overtake Rohit Sharma in the ranks. If he creates the remaining runs in this tour, he will be the third-fastest player to score 1000 runs in T20I.

Virat Kohli– 29 Matches, 2015

KL Rahul– 32 Matches, 2019

Rohit Sharma- 47 Matches, 2016

Shreyas Iyer has scored 809 runs collectively from thirty-six games played. If he manages to achieve the remaining 191, he will overtake Sharma in becoming the third-highest. His average is 36.77 runs and a strike rate of 140 with these stats, it is likely for him to score faster than Rohit.
