India and England played their first game of the ODI format at the Oval Cricket Stadium in London on 12th July. It was a significant win for India in their three-game ODI series. It was played after India won the T20I series on Sunday.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. England entered the pitch to bat in the first game, and India bowled incredibly. Jasprit Bumrah was the highlight of the match as he took an incredible six wickets for India. England lost five wickets in their first eight overs themselves. It was a significant upgrade in bowling for the Indian team. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan partnered in the second innings to chase down the 110 runs and win the game in just 18 overs, by 10 wickets.

Bumrah received plenty of praise for his incredible six wickets in the game. He and Mohammed Shami were the deadly bowlers for England, where players like Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Liam Livingstone got out at duck. Former England captain Nasser Hussain called Jasprit Bumrah, the best bowler across all formats during the game. Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar also agreed to the statement.

Sachin Tendulkar, Nasser Hussain on Jasprit Bumrah Being the Best Bowler Across Formats
Tendulkar applauded Jasprit on his Twitter, “The Oval pitch has great bounce but Indian bowlers bowled the right lengths & that made all the difference. A great bowling performance by India’s pace attack especially Bumrah who was just phenomenal.” He also tweeted to agree with the statement Nasser said during the game, “I’ve been of the opinion for a while now that Bumrah is the best bowler across formats. It was good to hear @nassercricket agree with me on-air.”
