PM Narendra Modi Hails Mithali Raj on Excellent International Career and Congratulates Neeraj on Kuortane Gold

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did his usual radio show on Sunday where he congratulated former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj and golden boy Neeraj Chopra in Man Ki Baat. Mithali Raj announced her retirement earlier this month after playing for India for more than two decades. She is also the longest-serving captain for the women’s team and got her team on par with the men’s team.

PM Modi yesterday, 26th June Sunday, talked about Raj and how she inspired numerous people, praising her for an impressive international career. He said, “Today, I also want to discuss about one of the most talented cricketers of India, Mithali Raj. She announced her retirement earlier this month, which left many fans quite emotional. Mithali was not just an extraordinary player, but also was an inspiration to many. I would like to wish her all the best for her future.”

Neeraj Chopra

The Indian Prime Minister further congratulated the Indian Javelin icon, who bagged gold for India in last year’s Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra. Chopra recently broke the national record at the Paavo Nurmi Games, breaking his record set during the Olympics. He also won the gold medal at the Kuortane Games.

Modi congratulated Neeraj on his weekly radio show, “This month, our Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra made headlines again. After a historic win in Olympics, he reached another fine achievement at the Paavo Nurmi Games, where he not only won the silver medal but also bettered his own national record. At the Kuortane Games, Neeraj made our nation proud with another gold medal.”
