The Commonwealth Games 2022 is around the corner and will soon begin on the 28th of July, next month, and will be going for a couple of weeks. The events will be held in Birmingham, England, and several nations are prepared to participate. India is not behind and has qualifying rounds happening for various categories in the Games.Â

Indian Boxer Nikhar Zareen has officially secured her place at the Commonwealth Games after qualifying in the 50 kg round on Saturday, 11th June. The present World Champion Nikhat Zareen, won the International Boxing Association Women’s World Boxing Champion 2022. Zareen is also a bronze medallist in the Asian Championship 2019 flyweight. She defeated Minakshi of Haryana to secure her place at CWG 2022. Nikhat looked dedicated and controlled the game with accurate punches. The World Champion won the round by 7-1 and will enter the Games.

Lovlina Borgohain also booked her place in the 70 kg rounds at the Games, on Saturday. Olympic Bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain defeated Pooja from Railways to secure her spot. It was a relatively similar victory for Borgohain compared to Zareen. Nitu and Jasmine also finalized their spot in the CWG at 48 kg and 60 kg rounds.
Indian Boxing star Mary Kom failed to enter the Commonwealth Games 2022 after suffering a knee injury during the final qualifications. It was supposed to be her farewell year for CWG, but fate had other plans, and she had to leave the Games.
