Mominul Haque recently announced his departure as the captain of the Bangladesh Test team after his performance dipped. Haque, also known as Showrav is a left-handed batsman prominently, but also a left-arm slow orthodox bowler. He recently played a Test match against Sri Lanka, where Bangladesh lost the game.

Haque is thirty-year-old and was appointed as the captain of the Bangladesh Test team in 2019. He was under pressure the entire test series and only scored eleven runs against Lanka. It was a terrible defeat as the test was at home, and Sri Lankan beat them at their ground. Mominul has only made 163 runs in this entire year as a captain and went through several bad phases in his performance. “I felt that captaining a side is tough when I am not scoring, and the team is not winning. I think it is best to quit the captaincy.” Haque told Bangladesh Cricket Board or BCB president Nazmul Hassan yesterday on 31st May.

“I feel like I should focus on my batting. It wasn’t a hard decision. A captain has to contribute otherwise, it brings a lot of pressure. The board president told me to stay on, but I don’t want to be the captain. Shakib used to be captain in all three formats, but now I have to know what is he available for.” Mominul stated to the Daily Star newspaper. BCB hasn’t officially announced a new captain replacing Mominul Haque, but plenty estimate that Shakib Al Hassan might be the new captain. Bangladesh will play with West Indies in their next two-match test tour.
