IPL: Mumbai Indians Appointed Former South African Wicket-Keeper Mark Boucher as New Head Coach

Mumbai Indians, the franchise team of the Indian Premier League has selected a new coach for their team. Mark Boucher will be the new Head Coach of Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2023. He is a well-known South African wicketkeeper-batsman. Boucher was the coach for South Africa when they won 11 tests, 13 ODIs, and 23 T20Is.

“It is an honor and privilege to be appointed as Head Coach of MI. Their history and achievements as a franchise clearly put them up there as one of the most successful sporting franchises in all of world sport. I look forward to the challenge and respect the need for results. It’s a strong unit with great leadership and players. I look forward to adding value to this dynamic unit,” Boucher stated in an official release by the Mumbai Indians.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm and the owners of the franchise said, “It’s a pleasure to welcome Mark Boucher to Mumbai Indian. With his proven expertise on the field and off it as a coach guiding his team to numerous victories, Mark will add immense value to MI and take forward its legacy.”

The former Head Coach of Mumbai Indian Mahela Jayawardene is appointed as the new Global Head of Performance for Mumbai Indians. Zaheer Khan is now the Global Head of Cricket Development. The former bowler was earlier in the position of Director of Cricket Operations.
