India Qualifies for AFC Asia Cup 2023

AFC Asia Cup: The Indian Football team has successfully passed the qualifying rounds for the Asia Cup 2023. India has played a total of three games at home. The matches were played at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. India played their first game against Cambodia on 8th June and won 2-0. The second game against Afghanistan, by 2-1, and the third against Hongkong, by four nil.

India Qualifies for AFC Asia Cup 2023

India booked their spot in the AFC Asia Cup 2023, going through the twenty-three teams. The Indian team is in the first position leaving Hongkong in second place in Group D. Palestine defeated the Philippines in the Group B games and directly qualified for the Cup. It will be the second time India has qualified successfully twice in a row after the 2019 qualifiers round.

India didn’t play against Hongkong to qualify for the Asia Cup. The six Groups’ top squads and second-ranking teams get to entitle for the Cup, India then ranked second behind Hongkong before defeating them. It will be the fifth time India has qualified for the continental championship, 1964, 1984, 2011, 2019, and 2023.
