Indian star batsman Suryakumar Yadav creates a new record in T20I cricket in 2022. He achieved the feat, becoming the top batter having the highest number of sixes in this calendar year. India recently played their first T20I game against South Africa on 28th September.
It was the first out of three-game series between India and South Africa. India won the match by eight wickets with just two players scoring, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav. Yadav took his strike rate to 151 at a pitch made for the strike rate to be 100. With the three sixes, his tally became 45 in 2022. Both made a half-century against South Africa. Yadav smashed five boundaries and three sixes in his innings.
Suryakumar Yadav overtook Mohammad Rizwan to become the player with the most number of sixes in the calendar year. Rizwan had a record of 42 sixes in 2021. The Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman now ranks second and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill in third with 41. Rizwan achieved his record in 26 innings, whereas Suryakumar Yadav beat him in just 21 innings.
Suryakumar Yadav had a remarkable year in cricket. He is presently the most consistent batsman on the India team. Yadav made a century against West Indies and has been a top-performing and consistent batsman for India. He will be a prominent player for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
