Rohan Bopanna played the Semi-Finals of Men’s Doubles in the French Open 2022 with his partner Matwe Middelkoop. The match was played on 2nd June. Both lost the game, failing to win the Open. It was crucial for both the Indian and Dutch players, as they wanted to secure the title. He has twenty-one titles to his name and, as of February 2022, ranks on World No. 38. Bopanna was in his prime a couple of years before and ranked No.3 in July 2013. Forty-two-year-old still represents India on international stages.

Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop played the Semi-Finals of Men’s Doubles yesterday and lost the game. It was a heartbreaking moment for Indian fans and fans of Middelkoop. The Indo-Dutch pair fought hard and almost managed to win but failed in the end. They were against Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Jean-Julien Roger of the Netherlands. Both the Dutch players were against each other, it was good odds as they still won and were direct to the finals.

The first set was an amazing victory for India and won 6-4. Rohan took the first point for the duo and got the first set fto the Indian side. The second set pulled us back to the ground from the high of winning the first. India lost by 3-6 to Rojer and Arevalo, and the game was a draw. Only the third set was a differentiating game between the winners and losers. It was a competitive final set where each player went back and forth to score higher points. The game ended with Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop losing to Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Roger by 6-7. 

Roger, who is forty years old, became the oldest player ever to enter the French Open finals. If India had won the semi-finals, Bopanna would’ve been the most aged player. There won’t be the next chance as it will be the last French Open for Rohan.
