FIFA Sets Deadline for AIFF Constitution Approval to July 15 and September 15 for Elections to Avoid a Ban

The FIFA and Asian Football Confederation of AFC has given the AIFF or All India Football Federation a deadline to hold their general elections and draft a new constituency. The AIFF has passed a motion to cast an election for electing new members. The case is held by the Supreme Court Committee of Administrators or CoA set by FIFA-AFC.

The opt for new constitutions has been approved by the CoA and the final draft should be handed to them. According to the information given to PTI by an anonymous source, “It has been made clear by the joint FIFA-AFC team that the deadlines will have to be strictly adhered to. If not the country could be banned, and the U-17 Women’s World Cup will be taken away. FIFA wants enough time for the new office bearers to prepare for the U-17 Women’s World Cup. That is why the September 15 deadline for elections is so that the elected office bearers can take charge by September 20.”

“After that, we have to send it to FIFA for final approval.” 35 state associations attended the meeting and passed a resolution to hold the AIFF elections within 30 days of the approval. “We had to pass the resolution to hold elections within 30 days because of the short timeline. If we set 50 days, it will be difficult to hold elections on September 15,” a State official said.
