Equated with MS Dhoni- Bangladesh T20 Coach on Former Indian Captain who got Dropped from T20 World Cup Squad

The Bangladesh Cricket team’s Head Coach drew a comparison between Mahmudullah to Indian legend MS Dhoni. Bangladesh recently announced their T20 World Cup squad where their former skipper Mahmudullah Riyad was missing from the team. Several questions were raised by cricket fans as to why the great batsman of Bangladesh wasn’t in the squad.

The coach Sridharan Sriram reacted to the question and gave his statement on it. “Ii is never an easy conversation- he is the most-capped T20 player in Bangladesh. I have utmost respect for him. I have to be the bad man to have the conversation. I think it went well. Sridharan Sriram was quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Sriram went on the mention former Indian skipper MS Dhoni and the similarities between him and Mahmudullah. “I think out cricket team needs to have a succession plan. I have always equated Mahmudullah with MS Dhoni with the role that he performs for the team. He batted at No.6 just like Dhoni has done for India. He has finished off games. Dhoni cannot go on forever and ever, right?

Riyad will be replaced by Najmul Hossain for the upcoming T20 series in October. “You need to have a succession plan for who. I think this was the right time to think of someone who can fill in Mahmudullah’s big shoes. You need someone. Unless we start playing players in that role, we won’t find them.”

Here is the Bangladesh Squad for T20 World Cup 2022.

Shakib Al Hassan(C), Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Liton Das, yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmen, Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Nasum Ahmed, Najmul Hossain.
