Yesterday Chennai Super Kings played against Gujarat Titans in the 62nd match of IPL 2022. The game was played at Wankhede Stadium on 15th May at 3:30. GT defeated CSK by seven wickets. It was quite an expected outcome as Gujarat is on the top of the pyramid, and Chennai is at the second-last position. CSK won the toss and decided to bat in the first inning. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored fifty-three runs, and N Jagadeesan made thirty-nine runs not out. Matheesha Parthirana took two wickets, and Moeen Ali grabbed one wicket for CSK. Chennai made 133 runs at the end of the first innings.
Wriddhiman Saha made sixty-seven runs and Matthew Wade scored twenty runs. Mohammed Shami took two wickets for Titans. Gujarat surpassed the target and won by seven wickets.
Wriddhiman Saha was announced as the Man of the Match due to his incredible play of 67 runs in 57 balls. Saha after the match said, “I have been playing for so long. But this setup takes care of the group. I didn’t play the initial games but executed my plans when I got a chance. We were not chasing a big target, so I took my chances in the powerplay, and then there was no need to take chances as the required rate was under six.”
Hardik Pandya, Captain of Gujarat Titans in the post-match interview said, “You don’t get extra points for finishing early, so it is important to win. (On his captaincy) I did alright because having played in the previous franchise where a lot of responsibility was given to the players. I have enjoyed the responsibility, and it has helped me.”
