Virat Kohli Becomes Most Successful Asian Captain In SENA Countries

At Kennington Oval in London, Virat Kohli guided Team India to win in the 4th Test match against England. Notably, India thrashed England by 157 runs and took a commanding 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series against Joe Root’s team.

Virat Kohli is currently the most successful Asian skipper in SENA countries, thanks to his triumph at the Oval. South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia make up SENA. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli now has the most Test victories of any Asian skipper with six. Virat Kohli has now won three Tests in England, two in Australia, and one in South Africa.

Not only that, but Kohli is now the captain with the fourth-most Test victories in the history in the game’s purest version.

When India came out to bat in the second innings, they were down by nearly 100 runs. Virat Kohli commended his team’s efforts for making a comeback. In his post-match remarks, he said:

“The character that the side has shown, to come back from 100 run deficit showed that we were not down and out. I said at Lord’s as well, I am proud of the character, among the top three bowling performances I have witnessed as India captain.

“It’s relative what you call flat, field wasn’t wet like the first three days, ball got scuffed up nicely, one side heavier, and exploited reverse swing perfectly. We believed as a team that we could get all ten wickets,” said Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma’s outstanding century in India’s second innings was also praised by Virat Kohli. Shardul Thakur’s match-winning efforts were also lauded by the Indian skipper. In his post-match remarks, he said:

“Rohit’s innings was outstanding, but the impact performance from the lower-middle order, Shardul’s fifty was the difference and a counterattack in the second innings. Looking to restrict us but he was outstanding.

“We never got towards statistics, we know what we focus on, we take a call on what feels best and we believe we can win Tests with it. Whatever the noise on the outset, it doesn’t bother us,” Virat Kohli concluded.

Meanwhile, India will lock horns with England in the 5th and final Test match of the series, which will start on September 10 at Manchester.
