PV Sindhu has won a silver medal in the last iteration of the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. She took that to the next level and won her first ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. Sindhu had previously won a gold medal at the mixed event in the CWG 2018. The two-time Olympic medallist is the most successful singles player from India.

PV Sindhu played her finals against Canadian Michelle Li. Sindhu attacked from the start of the game as Li was playing from the nets. The game led 7-5 after a smash and took straight points to 14-8. Li made somewhat of a comeback and reached 14 but lost by 21-15.

In the second set, the Indian shuttler immediately took the lead. She got a 4-2 charge, and kept the points difference between them and got to 11-6. In the end, Michelle Li was no match to Sindu, and the Indians prevailed 21-13. PV Sindhu won both the sets claiming her first ever Commonwealth Gold in Women’s Singles.
