Former players and Virat Kohli showed their support to Arshdeep Singh after he dropped a catch. India and Pakistan played the Super 4 match in the Asia Cup 2022 on Sunday, 4th September. Pakistan defeated India in the game by five wickets. Arshdeep Singh’s mishap led to a catch drop which might have caused the defeat.

Former spinner Harbhajan Singh also supported the player. “Stop criticizing young @arshdeepsinghh. No one drop catch purposely..we are proud of our boys…Pakistan played better..shame on such people who r putting our own guys down by saying cheap things on this platform bout arsh and team..Arsh is GOLD.” Harbhajan tweeted.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also showed his support to the young seamer. “Arshdeep is a strong character. Stay that way boy. @arshdeepsinghh”

Virat Kohli also talked about Arshdeep’s mishap and how it’s just a mistake. He addressed the situation in the post-match presentation. “Anyone can commit the mistake, the situation was tight. It was a high-pressure game, and mistakes can happen. I still remember I was playing my first Champions Trophy, and the match was against Pakistan, I had played a very bad shot against Shahid Afridi. I was watching the ceiling till five am, I was not able to sleep and I thought my career was over, but these things are natural. Senior players get around you, there is a good team environment right now. I give the credit to the captain and coach. The players learn from their mistakes. So one must accept his mistake, address it and look forward to being in that pressure situation once again.”
