Asia Cup 2022 India Wins 3 Gold and 1 Bronze in Archery

The Asia Cup Archery tournament is going on from 6th May till 11th May. It is held in Sulaymaniyah Sports Club in Iraq. India participated in the continental cup with sixteen member contingent, eight female archers, and eight male archers. It is stage 2 of Asia Cup 2022, and the first stage happened in Thailand in March 2022. 

Recurve Women: Bhajan Kaur, Tisha Sancheti, Laxmi Hembrom, Avni

Compound Women: Aditi Swami, Parneet Kaur, Sakshi Chaudhary, Pragati

Recurve Men: Juyel Sarkar, Vinayak Verma, Parth Salunkhe, Mrinal Chauhan

Compound Men: Rishabh Yadav, Prathamesh Jawkar, Kaushal Dalal, Prathamesh Fuge

Indian Women’s Compound archery team was led by nineteen-year-old Sakshi Chaudhary. Chaudhary won gold for India on 10th May, Tuesday by defeating Kazakhstan. It was a tough competition between India and Kazakh, but Sakshi grabbed the win by 204-201. She won the first gold of the day, which was just the tip of the iceberg. Sakshi also won silver last year at the Youth Archery Championship held in Poland.

Prathamesh Fuge, Rishabh Yadav, and Jawkar Samadhan jointly bagged the second gold for India. They beat Bangladesh to gain their double gold by 224-218 in the final. Nineteen-year-old Rishabh Yadavl ed the trio, who won a silver in the first stage. Jawkar earned his solo bronze medal after defeating Kazakh’s Sergey Khiristich by 147-145.

India received their third gold in the mixed team played by Parneet Kaur and Prathamesh Fuge. The duo thrashed Adel Zhexenbinova and Khristich from Kazakhstan by 158-151. 

It will be a stepping stone for the young archers to gain opportunities in the upcoming Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
