Simarjeet Singh, a Delhi-born bowler, has been added to the squad as an injury replacement for Arjun Tendulkar, who was bought for 20 lakh in the auction prior of the season. Arjun Tendulkar, the son of famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, had not played a single game for MI this season and has been ruled out.

This was announced by the franchise on Wednesday.

“Mumbai Indians have added Simarjeet Singh as an injury replacement to Arjun Tendulkar for the remainder of their IPL 2021 season,” Mumbai Indians said in a released statement.

“The right arm medium fast bowler has started training with the team after completing the mandatory quarantine as per IPL guidelines.”

Simarjeet Singh, 23, has appeared in 15 domestic T20 matches, taking 18 wickets at an economy rate of 7.76. In ten first-class games, he has 37 wickets.

Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by six wickets in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday to go back on track. MI’s three-game losing run was broken, and Rohit Sharma was pleased.

With 6 balls and 6 wickets in hand, Mumbai chased down the 136-run goal. After the bowlers did their job yet again, limiting the opposition to a manageable score, it was Saurabh Tiwary and Hardik Pandya who provided key contributions to help Mumbai maintain their winning momentum as the competition progressed.

“We do agree that we didn’t play to our potential, but it’s a long tournament and we need to stick to our plans and reading the situations is very important and we can take a lot of confidence from that. Important not to lose the guard,” Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation.

Hardik Pandya’s return to form was the game’s biggest positive. In his 30-ball 40-run undefeated innings, the right-hander hammered four fours and two sixes while capping the chase with a maximum off Mohammed Shami.

With 10 points, Mumbai has moved up to fifth place in the points standings, level with the fourth-placed Kolkata Knight Riders. On Saturday afternoon in Sharjah, they face the Delhi Capitals.
