Chennai Super Kings overcame Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets in a last-ball drama in their IPL encounter on Sunday, thanks to a spectacular cameo from Ravindra Jadeja (22 off 8 balls). CSK top-order batsmen chipped in with useful contributions in pursuit of a 172-run mark, but they wobbled towards the end before Jadeja pulled off the win with an 8-ball 22 that included two fours and as many sixes to help his side reach 172 for 8 in 20 overs. Other contributors included Faf du Plessis (44), Ruturaj Gaikwad (40), and Moeen Ali (32). Earlier, KKR chose to bat and scored 171 for six.
Rahul Tripathi scored 45 runs off 33 balls, while Nitish Rana (37 not out) and Dinesh Karthik also contributed (26).
Shardul Thakur, an India pacer, was one of CSK’s top bowlers in the tournament, recording outstanding figures of 2/20 in his four overs.
Josh Hazlewood also took two wickets, one of which was KKR captain Eoin Morgan.
