IPL 2021, KKR vs DC Preview: Delhi Capitals Eye Top Spot, Kolkata Knight Riders Look To Stay In Top Four Race

Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capital

On Tuesday, the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals face off in the first of two IPL 2021 matches. Both clubs are vying for a spot in the top four, with the Delhi Capitals taking the lead. KKR suffered their first defeat in the UAE leg, narrowly losing to Chennai Super Kings after two massive wins. With eight points from ten games, Kolkata is now fourth in the IPL points rankings. KKR have an edge over the chasers thanks to their excellent net run rate.

The Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings have been simply too excellent for the rest of the teams. For other teams, Delhi’s bowling, led by Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, has proved too hot to handle.

The batters, led by Shikhar Dhawan, the current Orange Cap leader, have also been in excellent form. The return of Shreyas Iyer has boosted DC even more, and they now appear to be a squad on a mission.

They are currently in second place in the IPL points standings, following only CSK in terms of net run-rate. With a win versus KKR, they will take the lead for the first time, despite having played one more match than MS Dhoni’s team.

The Delhi Capitals might not have it as easy against KKR as they have in the past against other teams.

With Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer leading the way with the bat, KKR have been in excellent form. KKR have two mystery spinners in Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, who are difficult to choose and much more difficult to hit.

Lockie Ferguson has been an excellent addition to the bowling squad.

Despite the fact that Eoin Morgan’s team lost against CSK, there were some positives to take away from the game. Late in the game, Dinesh Karthik made a stunning cameo, while Nitish Rana played a strong hand to maintain one end tied.
