Lionel Messi will be out for Paris Saint-match Germain’s against Montpellier on Saturday due to a knee injury, according to his club. PSG announced that Messi has resumed running and that a new update would be released on Sunday, bolstering hopes that he will be able to play in Tuesday’s Champions League match against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. At a news conference, Mauricio Pochettino remarked, “Hopefully everything will be well and he will be back with us.” “We’re hoping he’ll be able to attend. We must exercise caution and wait to observe how things develop in the following days.”

Messi was substituted in the 76th minute of Barcelona’s 2-1 triumph over Lyon in Ligue 1 last weekend.

He was only diagnosed with a knee injury later, and he did not play in Wednesday’s 2-1 league win over Metz.

Messi has only played three times for his new club since arriving from Barcelona in early August, and has only played 90 minutes once, in the Champions League against Club Brugge.

When PSG plays Montpellier this season, they’ll be seeking to make it eight wins in a row in Ligue 1, and Pochettino insists that’s his priority, not a repeat with a City side who knocked them out of the Champions League in the semi-finals last season.

“The most essential thing is to win the Montpellier game and improve in the areas where we need to improve. Manchester City has no bearing on it “”Says the Argentine,” he says.

“We want to keep our winning streak going, but it can also help us prepare for Tuesday’s game.”

Marco Verratti and Sergio Ramos, the club’s close-season acquisition from Real Madrid, are both still out.
