World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for Men’s Javelin Finals: The 18th World Athletics Championship is currently being held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Neeraj Chopra is representing India for javelin men in the World Athletics Championship, 2022.

Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men’s javelin finals with a throw of 88.39m. He attained an automatic qualification for the finals as he crossed the mark of 83.50m in his first attempt. He was not required to make a second attempt for qualification.

Anderson Peters surpassed him with a 90.31m in his third attempt. He was followed by Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch, Olympic Silver Medalist who made in his first attempt too with a record of 85.23m.

In his past three tournaments, he has taken 15 attempts of which 10 were legal throws. He went past the line of 86m in seven of them. He now averages between 3 to 3.20 seconds over 30m. Chopra broke the national record last month at the Stockholm Diamond League meet with a throw of 89.94m.

World Athletics Championships: Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for Men’s Javelin Finals

In one of his press conferences, he said, “I’m very close to 90m, I reached 89.94m so I’m short by 6 cm, so my aim this year is to cross 90m.” This has created anticipation amongst the players regarding his score that will be for the finals. The final is scheduled to be held on Sunday Morning at 7:05 AM on 24th July 2022.
