Former Pakistani player Kamran Akmal compared India’s young pacer to iconic Zaheer Khan. South Africa is touring India for a two-format series. They started with the T20I series to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Arshdeep Singh has become the leading wicket-taker of the series.
Kamran Akmal compared Arshdeep Singh and his bowling style with a former Indian bowler, Zaheer Khan. “Arshdeep Singh is an incredible bowler. I think India have found their new Zaheer Khan.” Akmal said in a video on his YouTube channel.
The young pacer made his IPL debut in 2019. He rose to fame in IPL 2022 with an excellent performance with good speed and accuracy. Arshdeep made his international debut on the India tour of England. He also got picked for the West Indies tour where he outperformed expectations.
Akmal complimented his bowling skills and the management of pace and accuracy. “Arshdeep has both, pace and swing, and he has that bowling intelligence. He’s mentally strong and knows his abilities, and uses them according to the conditions,”
In the first match against South Africa, Arshdeep bagged three wickets. His economy remained pretty low, and he was rewarded as the player of the match. India won the game by eight wickets with KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav chasing the target of 108 runs.
“He first got Rilee Rossouw caught behind and then castled De Kock. But the best wicket was that of David Miller because he kept getting the ball to move away from him before bowling a sharp inswinger to bowl him out. He bowls brilliant and he is mature, has pace, and is still young. It’s a good sign for Team India because they needed a left-armer after Zahreen Khan,”
Due to his consistent performance and better economy, Arshdeep Singh is picked for the upcoming T20 World Cup in October.
