Ex-Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted about how the toss played a crucial event in the team’s victory and losses. India is officially out of the Asia Cup 2022 finals. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be the teams to play the finale. Sanjay Manjrekar mentioned how teams winning in the Asia Cup are primarily the ones who won the toss.
“Fact that cannot be ignored in this Asia cup- Teams that lost most tosses in super 4s are not in the finals. India lost all 3. Afghanistan 2. Hence spin of the coin cannot decide who gets a very significant advantage. T20 Cricket needs to explore a fairer method.” Sanjay Marjrekar tweeted.
Toss notably in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, played a huge deal. The boundaries were lengthy and not made to score ample runs. Teams performing first on the pitch tend to lose the game. Toss played a tremendous role in the T20 World Cup last year as well. Teams losing the toss had a terrible fate.
Indian Head Coach Rahul Dravid talked about the Asia Cup 2022 topic and the losses India faced. “We lost a couple of games on a pitch, on a ground that has not been easy to defend on. Just because we have lost a couple of games, it doesn’t mean we are a terrible team,” Rahul Dravid stated on Star Sports before the match against Afghanistan began.
“I think we do not need to overreact to things. It is a balanced environment, whether we win or we lose. We keep going on the same path, and the journey continues.” The Indian Head Coach further added to his statements.
India will play against Australia for a three-game T20I series from 20th September.
