Supreme Court Dissolves CoA, AIFF Administration to Take Over the Day-to-Day Management

The Supreme Court of India dissolved the Committee of Administrations, which they appointed to look after the affairs of Football in the country. FIFA banned AIFF on 14 August due to third-party interference. The apex court designated the day-to-day management by AIFF acting General Secretary Sunando Dhar.

AIFF administration re-taking the daily affairs will be a significant step towards getting the AIFF ban revoked by FIFA. With the Indian federation getting back the matters of the sport in India, there won’t be any requirement for the ban. The ban caused significant setbacks as the U-17 Women’s World Cup won’t be happening in India as planned.

The new executive committee will be elected based on pre-existing members of the AIFF. Representatives of the state association will be the voters, not the nominated eminent players. Former Indian captain Baichung Bhutia supported the 36 notable players in the voting. Bhutia wanted to implement the decision given by SC on 3rd August.
