Sri Lanka and Pakistan, who qualified already in the finals, played the final Super 4 game at the Asia Cup 2022. Presently both teams are the leading performers in the Asia Cup. Pakistan and Sri Lanka both started with a similar fate. India defeated Pakistan in the first match, and Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka in their first match. Both then defeated India and Afghanistan in the Super 4 matches.
Sri Lanka won in the last game before the finals against Pakistan. It was a good display of bowling strength by both teams. Sri Lanka was ahead in the batting department as well. The game was at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where winning the toss solely matters.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted for bowling. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam opened for Pakistan. Rizwan made 14 runs, and Babar scored 30 runs. Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed scored similar 13 runs each. Mohammad Nawaz made 26 runs, whereas the rest made a handful. Pakistan gave a target of 122 runs.Â
Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali took a wicket each.
Pathum Nissanka opened for Sri Lanka. He smashed 55 runs and was unbeaten in the whole innings. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka scored 24 and 21 runs, whereas Wanindu Hasaranga made 10 runs.
Wanindu Hasaranga took six wickets, whereas Pathum Nissanka took two wickets.
Sri Lanka effortlessly chased the 122 runs target e by Pakistan in just 17 overs. Sri Lanka won by five wickets.
