Sri Lanka and Australia played their second day of a test game yesterday at Galle International Stadium at Galle. Sri Lanka won the toss on the first day and chose to bat first. It is the first test match out of two between both countries. Sri Lanka batted first and was all out. Australia entered second and batted until three wickets down and ended the game.
The second day was a bit delayed due to rain and bad weather conditions. The game started pretty late.
Usman Khawaja and Travis Head were on the pitch where they scored 71 runs and 6 runs. Cameron Green scored 77 runs whereas Alex Carey made 45 and captain Pat Cumming got 26 runs. Mitchell Starc made 10 runs, and Nathan Lyon got fifteen runs and played till the end of the day. Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Mendis took four wickets, and Asitha Fernando took two.
Australia continued the game on the third day and won the test. It was a short game between both the countries, and Australia won due to their exceptional bowling. Australia’s victory was inevitable as they also batted strongly. Sri Lanka played poorly as they lost heavy wickets at the start of the game and hardly played the game in the format style. The Australian team created a 119 runs difference in their first inning.
A follow-on is most likely to happen as the second inning will be played on the third day, continuing with Sri Lanka batting again.
