Kane Williamson will head back to his home country for the birth of his second child. Williamson is the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad who very recently played against Mumbai Indians and led the team to victory. It was confirmed today about his temporary departure from IPL 2022. Williamson has played all thirteen matches for his team and scored 216 runs. His highest score in IPL 2022 was fifty-seven, with an average of 19.64 and a strike rate of 93.51. Hyderabad bought Kane at a massive INR 14 crore in a mega auction that happened earlier this year.

SRH officially tweeted, “Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here’s everyone at the #Riser camp, wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness!” Sunrisers Hyderabad will now be captain less with Williamson’s departure. Many rumors are stating that Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will fill in his shoes as he previously led the team in former leagues. Nicholas Pooran is also a strong contender for captaincy as he is the West Indies captain after the retirement of Kieron Pollard. Kane Williamson will miss their final fixture match against Punjab Kings on 22nd May. Â
If SRH qualifies in the playoffs, Williamson will likely return for the team’s further matches and retain the captaincy position. Kane has been consistently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2015.
