The Australia tour of Sri Lanka will begin soon, and all three formats of games will be played. It will be a crucial game for both the teams as Sri Lanka is set to host the Asia Cup in August. The Australian team has already arrived in the capital city of Colombo for three T20s, five ODIs, and two Test matches. Both the teams have officially announced their squads for three all three formats.

Presently the island nation is in its worst financial emergency since its independence in 1948. Sri Lanka is heavily dependent on tourism, and the emergence of Covid-19 destroyed its economy. There is a shortage of medicines, frequent power cuts, and an all-time low currency rate. Plenty of people, including the Australian Cricket team, stated their regrets about having a Cricket tour during such ongoing crises. Sri Lanka Cricket mentioned that the coming tournaments will help bring stability to their economy with financial aid. Cricket Australia and the Australian Government have donated two million US Dollars for medical aid.
Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary, Mohan de Silva stated, “These are tough times for our people. We are indeed grateful to Cricket Australia and Australian Government for supporting the series despite the hardships we as a nation are facing.” All the money collected from the tickets will be distributed to public welfare groups and initiatives. The games will be played at three locations, Colombo, Pallekele, and Galle.
