SL vs AUS Australia Defeated Sri Lanka by 10 Wickets 1st T20I Match

Australia played their first game of the Sri Lanka tour yesterday, 7th June in Colombo. It was the first game of their multi-format series, starting from three T20s. The first T20 was played at R Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday. Australia is presently the World No.1 in T20, won the toss against World No.9 ranking Sri Lanka and opted to field.

It was a short match with a smaller target given by Lanka to the Aussies. Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka opened for Sri Lanka and scored thirty-six and twenty-six runs. Next on the lineup was Charith Asalanka, who scored thirty-eight runs, the highest for their team. Collectively these three were the only ones to make any significant scores. Most of the other players only made single-digit runs, except Wanindu Hasaranga, who made seventeen runs. Sri Lanka gave Australia a target of 128 runs.

It was an easy win for Australia, and they won the round without losing a single wicket. Aaron Finch and David Warner opened in the second innings and played till they surpassed the target runs. Finch scored sixty-one runs, and David Warner made seventy runs. Josh Hazlewood took four wickets, and Mitchell Starc got three.

It was an incredible series opener by both the teams where Australian bowlers did well. Wanindu Hasaranga had plenty of eyes on him but wasn’t in his best form. Both the teams will play their next game on 8th June at R Premadasa Stadium.
