Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan entered the ground opening the game. Bairstow scored sixty-six runs, and Liam Livingstone made an incredible seventy runs for PBKS. It was quite a good start by Punjab. Dhawan would’ve been the key player, if not for RCB’s all-rounded Glenn Maxwell, who bowled him out incredibly. Punjab Kings gave Bangalore a target of 209 runs at the end of the inning. Rajat Patidar scored twenty-six runs, and Glenn Maxwell made thirty-five runs. Harshal Patel was the key bowler for RCB as he managed to take four wickets and slowed down Punjab. In the end, Bangalore only managed to reach 155 runs and lost the game by 54 runs.

Jonny Bairstow Man of the Match

Jonny Bairstow became the Man of the Match, after his incredible batting of 66 runs in 29 balls. “It’s one of those days. A couple of those come off and it’s your day. Many quality bowlers in the IPL and sometimes you’ve got to try and get them off their lengths (taking on Josh). It’s a completely different commodity, playing with England and playing here. Stats would suggest I quite enjoy opening the batting. The bats are very good, I must admit.” Bairstow said after the game.

Mayank Agarwal – Punjab Kings Team Captain

Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal post-match stated, “We were brilliant with the bat. The wicket was holding up a bit. The way Jonny and Livi batted was amazing. We haven’t changed a lot to be honest, just about understanding a few situations, understanding the wicket. Have to be adaptable and flexible which we have been, which is nice. Can’t be too defensive with the ball. If a batsman gets going, it doesn’t matter, the boundaries don’t matter these days. Two points are the most crucial thing for us. As long as the job gets done, I’m fine batting at five. A very energetic person, a very confident guy. Arshdeep enjoys his cricket. Must say he’s the leader in the team. He rallies around everyone, takes up the responsibility, even goes up and speaks to the bowlers sometimes.”
