PM Modi Congratulates Sudhir and Murali Sreeshankar for Bringing Home Medals 

Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games has officially ended, and India has made progress. The Indian athletes have contributed by adding to the medal tally list. The Indian Women’s Cricket Team and Men’s Hockey Team have entered the semi-finals. Boxers like Amit Panghal, Jasmine Lamboriya, Sagar Ahlawat, and current World Champion Nikhat Zareen have assured a medal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded Sudhir and Murali Sreeshankar for their exceptional performance at the game. Sudhir won India a gold medal at the Para Powerlifting event and created history. He became the first-ever Indian to win a gold medal at the Para Powerlifting competition at the CWG. His victory has made the entire nation proud. Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal in the men’s long jump, ending decades of wait.

PM Modi tweeted in appreciation of Sudhir and wrote, “A great start to the CWG 2022 para-sports medal count by Sudhir! He wins a prestigious Gold and shows yet again his dedication and determination. He has been consistently performing well on the field. Congratulations and best wishes to him for all upcoming endeavours.”


PM also wrote to appreciate Sreeshankar for his Silver medal. “M. Sreeshankar’s Silver medal at the CWG is a special one. It is after decades that India has won a medal in Men’s long jump at the CWG. His performance augurs well for the future of Indian athletics. Congratulations to him. May he keep excelling in the times to come.”

India has won 20 medals at the Commonwealth Games. 6 Gold medals, 7 Silver and Bronze medals.
