Indian Javelin star Neeraj Chopra broke the National Record for the longest javelin throw and set a new record. Chopra rose to fame after his incredible throw at the Tokyo Olympics last year, where he won India a Gold medal. He has since become the representative of India at several athletics championships.

The Olympic Gold medallist also set the National record he broke today. Neeraj Chopra threw the Javelin, in the Tokyo Olympics, which led to him winning gold, also creating a record for India. He slashed the sky and landed his Javelin at a distance of 87.58 meters. Chopra took a break from the media and public eye after becoming widespread overnight to attend practice sessions and prepare to enter the field.

Neeraj Chopra Breaks the National Record at Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland

The 24-year-old athlete participated in the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland. He broke the previous National record set by himself after letting the javelin fly to a distance of 89.30 meters. Neeraj didn’t win the Games and came in the second position, behind Oliver Helander, who threw till a distance of 89.93 meters. The Indian Javelin champion broke the record by a meter ahead of his earlier throw.

The Athletics Federation of India tweeted,“Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra settles for a Silver Medal with a New National Record Throw of 89.30m at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland. @afi We can see several performance hikes in various events this season. Hope for more further.”
