Mithali Raj Announces Retirement from All Formats of International Cricket

Mithali Raj yesterday, on 8th June, announced her retirement from all formats of International cricket after representing India for more than twenty-three years. She made our country proud throughout her professional career, winning several international recognitions. Raj also captained the Indian Women’s team from 2004 until her retirement in 2022.

Mithali Raj is the only female cricketer to surpass the 7000 runs mark in the Women’s One Day International game. She is also the first player to score seven consistent 50s in ODIs. In the 2018 Women’s T20 Asia Cup, Raj became the first Indian player across gender to score 2000 runs in T20I. She was rewarded on several occasions across her career, Raj received Arjuna Award in 2003, Padma Shri in 2015, Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World in 2017, and Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna last year.

Mithali Raj recently announced her retirement from all sorts of International cricket on her social media. The internet is filled with appreciation and thank you for her contribution to the game and India. She has more than 10,000 runs in international cricket across all forms. The 39-year-old national pride wrote, “Thank you for all your love & support over the years! I look forward to my 2nd innings with your blessing and support.” on her Instagram caption.
