New Zealand defeated Scotland by 68 runs in the first T20I. Martin Guptill created a new record after years, becoming the highest run scorer in T20I. Guptill is a right-handed batsman and opener for the New Zealand team. He surpassed Indian opener Rohit Sharma to rank at the top of the heap.

Guptill made 3,399 runs in his T20I career, whereas Rohit Sharma has 3,379 runs. The New Zealand opener didn’t score the most runs, ending his performance at 44 runs. It was enough to become the highest run-scorer in the history of T20I. He is 20 runs ahead of Rohit Sharma and is likely to increase the gap in the second T20I game.
