PV Sindhu had a good session at the Malaysia Open compared to her last tournament performance. Sindhu had a tough session last month at the Indonesia Open 2022, where she had to exit the Open after failing in the first round. Compared to that she had a good performance in this tournament as she won her first and second rounds.

Sindhu faced her arch-nemesis from Chinese Taipei Tai Tzu-Ying to advance into the semi-finals for the Super Series 750. Both played at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, where Tai got the first serve. The Chinese player immediately took a lead by 1-4 at the start of the game. Sindhu did manage to come close with 5-6 but was a point short. The Indians took the lead by 11-7 and stayed till the end winning the first set by 21-13.

The Chinese player wasn’t having it, and she quickly stood up on her feet, taking a massive lead. Sindhu failed to match her points and is half behind at 7-14. Tai Tzu-Ying easily wins the second set after Sindhu fails to chase, losing by 15-21. A final tie-breaker game was played between the two.

Tai Tzu immediately took the lead in the third game by 4-6. Sindhu managed to equal the points at 8-8 but not for long. The Chinese kept a three-point distance between the Indians at 11-14. It was a body smash that led to Tai Tzu’s victory. It was a close call for PV, but she will exit the tournament.
