HS Prannoy is having a fruitful year after a successful Thomas Cup last month and a good solo performance at the Indonesia Open. Prannoy is currently representing India in Malaysia Open 2022, played at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. He reached the semi-finals of the Indonesia tournaments with extreme ease.

HS Prannoy defeated Malaysian shuttler, Liew Daren, in the first round. It was a tough win as both players went back and forth, where Prannoy qualified after winning the tie-breaking set. He played his second round with Chinese Taipei player Chou Tien Chen. The Chinese are the World No.4, and the Indians are World No.19.

The first set started with both players close to the net gaining the upper hand. Chou gets ahead at the start, but Prannoy quickly matches him and moves forward in points. The Chinese struggled to catch up as the Indians kept scoring. HS Prannoy won 21-15 in the first set and ended it in 17 minutes.

Second set witnesses Prannoy taking the lead and maintaining it. Both try to take the shots close to the nets. The Indian took ten points to lead at 17-7 and gave his top performance. Prannoy took the lead and won the second set by 21-17. PV Sindhu also won her second round against Phittayaporn Chaiwan. HS Prannoy will play his quarter-finals with Jonatan Christie.
