Board of Control for Cricket in India President Sourav Ganguly revealed the plans for Indian cricket and the IPL 2023. Since the emergence of Covid-19 domestic and international cricket has been affected in some way or the other. Ganguly recently stated that the threat of the virus is significantly lower for Indian cricket to grow to its full glory.
Sourav Ganguly addressed all state units and associations about the cricket events in a letter. “The Indian cricketing season 2022-23 has started, and I am happy to share with you that we are going back to normalcy. You must be aware that this year we will be having the as-usual full-fledged domestic season for all age groups and the games will be hosted all over the country. I am sure the pandemic is behind us, and we all now look forward to a more certain future,” Ganguly wrote in the letter.
Sourav Ganguly mentioned the IPL and how it will be back at its entire potential as it was a couple of years back. BCCI took a bold step this year to host the league at home. Till 2019 IPL was played in a variety of stadiums all over the world. He also confirmed the first season of Women’s IPL to happen next year.
“The next season of men’s IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all ten teams playing their home matches at their designated venues. The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited Women’s IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year.” Ganguly wrote.
In the letter, Ganguly mentioned the total functionality of domestic series in India. He announced Under 15 girls, One Day tournaments to promote further advancements in Women’s Cricket. “We are glad to introduce a u15 one-day tournament for girls from this season. Women’s cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our young girls to play at the national and international level.”
