Indonesia Open 2022 just began today on 14th June, Tuesday. It will be held in Isotora stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia for just five days, ending on 19th June, Sunday. India played their first games in Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles. PV Sindhu represented India in the women’s games, whereas Sai Praneeth represented in the men’s.

India had to face defeat in the first round itself, PV Sindhu and Sai Praneeth lost their initial game. Two times Olympic medallist PV Sindhu played against Chinese He Bing Jiao at Isotara in Jakarta. It was a disappointing performance by Sindhu as she lost the game to the Chinese shuttler. The first round ended in the Indian player losing by 14-21 despite a competitive match. He Bing Jiao, world no.9, won the second round against PV Sindhu by 18-21.

The Men’s singles also had a similar fate as Sai Praneeth lost the first round against Danish Hans Kristian Vittinghus. It was a disappointing performance by Praneeth as he didn’t even last an hour. It was a poor game as the former World Championship bronze winner lost the first round to the Danish player by 16-21. The second round also ended in the same fate for Sai Parneeth, who lost the match by 19-21.

Two-time badminton champion Saina Nehwal also went through the exit door of the Indonesia Open. The defeat of PV Sindhu ended the reign of Indian women in the open. The men still have hope as Thomas Cup star Kidambi Srikant, HS Prannoy, and Lakshya Sen will be showing some action.
