Indonesia Open 2022 is now a day old, and India has already faced quite a loss. On the beginning day of the tournament, 14th June, India had their players thrown out for the Open. The women’s team suffered a lot after Saina Nehwal lost the qualification round, and two times Olympic medallist PV Sindhu was also shown the exit door. India’s presence in the women’s section is no more.

Kidambi Srikanth, presently the World No. 11, disappointed the Indian fans after he had to part his way from the tournament. He gave a tough fight to French shuttler Brice Leverdez. Srikanth and Leverdez only played a short game of forty-two minutes at Istora arena.

In the first set, Srikant took the lead of 11-10 till halftime. The French showed his genuine mastery and brought the score to his favor, and won the first set by 21-23.

The second set was quite disappointing for Kidambi Srikanth, as he barely made any points. Leverdez took the upper hand and played an aggressive game, giving hardly any time for the Indian to settle on his front foot. France won the second round by a wide margin of 21-10.

Thomas Cup winner Lakshya Sen also departed from the Open after he lost to Indian youngster HS Prannoy. It was a loss and a win, as one player exited, and the other succeeded to the next round. It was a moderately competitive match between both the Indians but only lasted for thirty-four minutes.
