India and Sri Lanka played their second ODI on 4th July at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The Indian women’s team won the first ODI game played on 1st July, and they have also won the T20I series played before the One Day games. India won two out of the three T20Is winning the series. India is also set to win the Sri Lanka tour entirely as they have the lead in One Day as well.
India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Hasini Perera and Vishmi Gunaratne opened the game for Sri Lanka, where Perera failed to score any runs, and Gunaratne got 3 runs. Chamari Athapaththu and Anushka Sanjeewani scored 27 and 25 runs, whereas Nilakshi de Silva and Ama Kanchana made 32 and 47 runs. Sri Lanka played the entire fifty over and made 173 runs.

India batted in the second innings, where Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the game. Both the skippers were enough to take on the Sri Lanka team and played till the end. Verma scored 71 runs, and Mandhana made 94 runs, both led the Indian team through victory single-handedly. Renuka Singh took four wickets, whereas Meghna Singh got three wickets and Deepti Sharma two.

Sri Lanka got zero wickets in the second ODI and also failed to set a 200-plus target. India will take the win for the Sri Lanka tour of three T20Is, and three ODIs after winning two games in each format played. The third ODI won’t be a dealbreaker for the Indian women’s team as they have registered their victory.
