The Indian Women’s team played their first match against Sri Lanka on their two-format tour of the country. Both the countries played the game at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla. There will be three T20I games played and three ODIs from 23rd June to 7th July. The women in blue are also prepared for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham next month.
Yesterday was the first International game for the Women’s team after their disappointing performance in the 2022 Women’s World Cup. Mithali Raj stepped down from captaincy and retired from international games. Harmanpreet Kaur will bear the torch of Raj for the Indian team.

India Women vs Sri Lanka Women: Match Highlights
India won the toss and chose to bat first.
1st Inning:
India:
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana opened the game. Verma scored thirty-one runs, and Mandhana only made a single run.
Sabbhineni Meghana failed to score a single run and only played one ball.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored twenty-two runs striking three boundaries.
Jemimah Rodrigues scored thirty-six runs and played till the end of the innings.
Richa Ghosh scored eleven runs in fifteen balls.
Pooja Vastrakar gained fourteen runs.
Deepti Sharma made seventeen runs and was not out.
India gave the target of 138 runs to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka:
Oshadi Ranasinghe got two wickets for her team. First of Smriti Mandhana in 4th over and second of Sabbhineni Meghana in 4th over, caught out with help of Chamari Athpaththu.Â
Chamari Athapaththu took the wicket of Shafali Verma with the catch by Nilakshi de Silva in the 10th over.
Inoka Ranaweera got Harmanpreet Kaur out by LBW in the 11th, Richa Ghosh in the 15th and Pooja Vastrakar in the 17th over.

2nd Inning
Sri Lanka:
Vishmi Gunaratne and Chamari Athapaththu opened for Sri Lanka and scored one and sixteen runs.
Harshita Madavi scored ten runs for her team.
Kavisha Dilhari scored the highest of the match, forty-seven runs and was not out.
Nilakshi de Silva made eight runs in eleven balls.
Ama Kanchana bagged eleven runs with one boundary.
Anushka Sanjeewani made ten runs for eight balls and was not out.

Deepti Sharma took the wicket of Vishmi Gunaratne in the 2nd over.
Radha Yadav got Chamari Athapaththu and Harshita Madavi caught out in the 7th over.
Pooja Vastrakar with the catch by Harmanpreet Kaur got Nilakshi de Silva out in the 13th over.
Shafali Verma took the wicket of Ama Kanchana in the 17th over.
India won the first game by thirty-four runs after Sri Lanka failed to cross the target.
