India vs England Virat Kohli Riles Up Jonny Bairstow, 5th Test

India is playing their fourth day of the fifth test match against England on 4th July at Edgbaston. India is currently in the lead as they have won two games out of the previous four matches, one match ended in a draw and one in favor of England. If India manages to secure their victory they will win the series, or else it will end in a draw.

India batted in their first innings with a brilliant performance by Rishabh Pant, who scored 146 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja, who ended his session with 104 runs. On the second day, the Indian ended their innings after getting all-out, scoring 416 runs. In England’s innings, Indian bowlers gave them a hard time getting started.

Jasprit Bumrah took three back-to-back wickets displaying a good overall performance. Mohammed Siraj bagged four wickets for India. Though one player the bowlers couldn’t stop was Jonny Bairstow, all thanks to Virat Kohli. Bairstow was suffering to register significant runs, with Bumrah and Shami giving him a difficult time. Kohli poked the batsman with his comments which led him to score from 12 to 106 runs.

Kohli commented, “a bit quicker than Southee Eh?” Frustrated with the comment, he told the umpire about the excessive sledging. Kohli also took it further to give him a friendly punch which Bairstow took personally. Similarly, like Yuvraj Singh, who smashed 6 sixes after Flintoff passed comment, Bairstow’s run rate hiked from 21 to 150.
