India played their first T20I match against South Africa on 28th September, Wednesday. The game was played at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It will be the last series of T20I before preparing for the T20 World Cup in October. Both countries will play a two-format tour in India. Three games of T20I and ODI will take place across the nation.
In the first T20I match, India prevailed by eight wickets. India’s bowling performance finally saw a good upgrade since the Asia Cup. The South African team also performed well, but struggled to score much. India got the upper hand and decided to bowl first.
Aiden Markram scored 25 runs, and Wayne Parnell made 24 runs. Keshav Maharaj was the highest scorer for South Africa in the match. All the other players barely reached two-digit runs. South Africa gave India a target of 107 runs.
Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje were the only wicket-takers for South Africa.
KL Rahul was the opener for India. He smashed a half-century of 51 runs with two boundaries and four sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also showed a fabulous performance with his half-century. He made 50 runs in 33 balls, with five boundaries and three sixes.
Arshdeep Singh took three wickets, whereas Deepak Chahar and Harshal Patel bagged two wickets each.
India won the first T20I game by eight wickets. The men in the blue lead the series by 1-0.
